Dimensions Midwifery sees clients at our office in Lanham, MD and births take place at Prince George’s Hospital Center. In 2006, Prince George’s Hospital Center opened the first in-hospital birth center in Maryland and we are able to offer our clients births in a home-like atmosphere. Water birth is an option in the birth center as well.
Dimensions Midwifery was created in 1988 as a joint physician/midwife obstetric practice aimed at decreasing the high infant mortality rate in the State of Maryland. Since then the nurse-midwifery practice has grown to a staff of 11 nurse-midwives with over 170 years of combined experience–the largest practice in Maryland.
Together, the nurse-midwives have delivered over 20,000 babies with a stellar 8% cesarean section rate in 2008 – 75% lower than the national average. 9 out of 10 of our clients desiring a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) are successful at having a vaginal birth.
