Internal Medicine Resident Program
The medical care at GMC is provided by the faculty and resident physicians of the certified American Continuing Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Internal Medicine program affiliated with Prince George’s Hospital Center.
Resident physicians (also know as Residents) are individuals who have received a medical degree and practice medicine under the supervision of fully licensed physicians, usually in a hospital or clinic.
Medical residency provides in-depth training within a specific branch of medicine such as family practice, internal medicine, psychiatry, orthopedic surgery, general surgery or other specialties and builds upon the broad range of medical knowledge and basic clinical skills learned in medical school, enabling the physician to get more hands-on medical practice experience.
Believing that “a community can only be as strong as the health of its people,” GMC is actively involved in sponsoring programs for special populations, providing health education/outreach, and serving as a voice on many local and state committees concerned with improving the health care of our community.
GMC accepts an assortment of payment options, including many private insurances, Medicare and Maryland State Medicaid insurers.
Fees are based upon the type of visit and type of services rendered and the provision of lab or diagnostic testing.
