Prince George’s Hospital Center Appoints New Associate Vice President of Patient Care Services

January 3, 2013, Cheverly, Maryland – Prince George’s Hospital Center is proud to announce Joan Robertson as the new associate vice president of patient care services effective December 3, 2012.

“I am excited to have Ms. Robertson as part of our team, says John A. O’Brien, president of Prince George’s Hospital Center. “She will be responsible for the maternal child health areas, such as labor and delivery, NICU, and pediatrics, as well as the behavioral health product line. She comes to us with a variety of skills and knowledge in the nursing field and will lead our team of experts in continuing to make improvements in our care and service.”

Ms. Robertson has been a nurse for over 35 years with clinical and administrative experience in maternal-child and behavioral health areas. She has also written articles on various topics related to nursing and earned several grants related to improvement in patient outcomes and service. Prior to joining Prince George’s Hospital Center, Ms. Robertson was the clinical administrator specializing in women’s and children’s services at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center.

“I am passionate about the role of nursing in achieving outstanding outcomes for patients,” shares Robertson. “I believe that excellent service will differentiate us in the marketplace for patients and their family, staff, physicians, and the community at large. I believe in the power of the entire healthcare team and am enthusiastic about my role.”

Ms. Robertson obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina. She received her Masters of Arts in Healthcare Administration from The College of Notre Dame of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. She is certified in nursing administration through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and as a childbirth educator through ASPO Lamaze.
