Laurel Regional Hospital Welcomes Its First Baby of the Year

January 4, 2013, Laurel, Maryland – Laurel Regional Hospital welcomed its first baby in 2013 at 1:59 a.m.  Keber Reinoso, a healthy baby boy, weighed in at six pounds and 9.2 ounces.

Baby Keber was born to the proud parents of Kenia, 27, and Yaber Reinoso, 30, of Greenbelt, Maryland. The Reinoso’s also have a daughter.

“My actual due date was January 14,” exclaims Mrs. Reinoso. “However, I had spontaneous rupture membranes so I delivered early. The nursing staff and other staff members were so nice and very attentive. I had my first baby at Laurel Regional Hospital and received excellent care. So when my doctor recommended Laurel Regional Hospital for our second child, I was very glad that he did.”

Mr. Reinoso knew he was going to have a son and was overjoyed with excitement when his dream came true. When thinking of a name, the couple decided to take the first two letters of Mom’s name and combine them with the last three letters of Dad’s name. And, as they say, Keber was born.

“It may be the Reinoso’s second child, but it was the hospital’s very first in 2013,” states Crystal Fuller, the new director of Maternal Child Health Services at Laurel Regional Hospital. “We may be a small, community hospital, but we deliver high quality care to our patients.”

Each New Year, staff get excited and rally behind the effort to show appreciation to the patient having the first baby of the year at the hospital. Employees bring in items, such as pacifiers, rattles and gift certificates, in anticipation of the baby’s arrival. One staff member even created a custom made “diaper cake.” Along with Mom, Baby Keber received flowers and a beautiful gift basket, in addition to the wide array of gifts, samples and supplies that the staff showers on each new baby. Laurel Regional Hospital wishes the Reinoso’s well and will be ready, if the time comes, for baby #3.
