Critical Care

Continuous Care for Those Who Are Seriously Ill or Injured...

The Critical Care Center at Prince George's Hospital Center provides expert, specialized care for people who are seriously ill or injured.

Patient care is based on:

  • Intensive Monitoring
  • Around-the-Clock-Care
  • Treatment that Anticipates Future Needs

Our facility has expanded with state-of-the-art-technology and innovative programs to become a Center of Excellence.

Our state-of-the-art, 24-bed Critical Care Center located on the second floor has sophisticated, high-tech equipment for Technology-Driven Critical Care.

The Critical Care Center is a shock trauma-respiratory care unit located in the Pavilion.

Our Critical Care patients have a variety of diagnoses:

  • Acute Medical Illness
  • Deteriorating Chronic Illness
  • Accident or Trauma Victims
  • Major Surgery Recovery, including Cardiac Surgery

All patients require technological support throughout a potentially life-threatening period of hospitalization.

All benefit from close monitoring, sophisticated diagnosis, and state-of-the-art treatment that are only found in this environment.

At our Chest Pain Center, specially trained staff uses state-of-the-art equipment to monitor, diagnose and evaluate chest pain.

We have also developed and host the Shock Mentor Program, which is nationally recognized, for young people to observe the hard reality of what violence, drugs, alcohol and reckless driving can do to a human body. This is done under strict supervision within the Trauma Resuscitation area.

Families of critically ill patients have specific needs for information, honesty, caring and hope.

The Critical Care Team would like to work with you to balance the physiologic needs of the patient with the emotional, informational and spiritual needs of your loved one and family.
