Sherry B. Perkins, PhD, RN, joins Dimensions Healthcare System as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer


Cheverly, Maryland, January 27, 2016 – Dimensions Healthcare System (DHS) is pleased to welcome Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Sherry B. Perkins, Ph.D., RN.

Reporting to Dimensions Healthcare System President and CEO Neil J. Moore, Dr. Perkins will have responsibility for all hospital operations system wide. She will also play a key role in the transformation of the system as DHS builds a new regional medical center.

“During our extensive search, we were looking for an accomplished healthcare executive with a proven track record to lead our organization operationally and Sherry met all of our requirements,” states Moore. “She has very high standards and works in a collaborative fashion, which is exactly what a healthcare system as complex as ours needs. Sherry has a stellar reputation and is an esteemed colleague. We are extremely excited to have her join our executive team.”

Dr. Perkins has more than 30 years of clinical and healthcare leadership experience. She currently serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) in Annapolis, Maryland. Prior to becoming COO, she was the chief nursing officer for AAMC. Before her leadership at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Perkins spent 15 years in progressive leadership roles at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Perkins is a well-known and respected healthcare executive. She holds a doctorate degree in nursing from the University of Kansas, a Master of Science degree from Texas Woman’s University, and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Baylor University. She completed the Johnson and Johnson Wharton Fellows Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

A frequent national speaker, Dr. Perkins holds leadership roles and appointments with the Institute for Patient and Family Centered Care, the Maryland Hospital Association, the Maryland Patient Safety Center and the University of Maryland School of Nursing. She will begin with Dimensions Healthcare System in April 2016.
