We are currently experiencing flu within the community and have adjusted our Visitors policy. You will not be able to visit if you are sick with any of the following: Fever, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Runny Nose, Sore Throat and/or Cough. No visitors who are pregnant or under the age of 18. Community Outreach

Senior Health Center

The Senior Health Center, under the medical direction of a board-certified family practice and geriatric medicine physician, provides primary and continuing comprehensive medical and nursing services.

These services are provided to Prince George's County residents 55 years and older who are in need of personalized healthcare. Services are provided to persons with disabilities as well to persons of low and moderate levels of income.

The Senior Health Center is funded by a grant from Prince George's County and managed by Gladys Spellman Specialty Hospital and Nursing Center, an affiliate of Dimensions Healthcare System.

Free transportation to the Senior Health Center from many areas in Prince George's County is available upon request.

The following are some of the services provided at the Senior Health Center:

  • Complete Physical Examination
  • Primary Medical Care
  • Geriatric Assessment
  • Preventive Care
  • EKG's, PAP Smears, and Rectal Examinations
  • Diabetic Screening and Treatment
  • Hypertensive Screenings and Treatment
  • Blood and Urine Testing
  • Pneumonia and Influenza (flu) vaccinations
  • TB Screening
  • Early Dementia Screening
  • Referrals
  • Limited Transportation
  • Nutrition Counseling and Lectures
  • SAGES Program (Sage Advice - Great Everyday Strategies)
  • Social Work
  • Walk-in Blood Pressure Checks
  • Podiatry

These services are designed to meet the needs of seniors in a comfortable and safe environment. Our staff involves patients and their families in the health care process with an emphasis on preventive and therapeutic treatment.

Directions

Take route 202 (Landover Road) west which merges with route 450 - continue west through Bladensburg. Bear left at Peace Cross continuing on Bladensburg Road. Turn right at route 208 (38th Avenue) (Shoppers Food will be on left). Proceed on 38th Avenue across Rhode Island Avenue (route 1). Make left onto Taylor Street. Senior Health Center is at top of hill on left at the the Cora B. Wood Senior Multi-purpose Center.
