Dimensions Healthcare System Names Ecker as President & CEO

May 25, 2005

Healthcare Industry Veteran Led System on Interim Basis since March 2005

Cheverly, MD - The Dimensions Healthcare System Board of Directors today named area healthcare industry veteran G.T. Dunlop Ecker as President & CEO of the Prince George's County based healthcare system. Ecker has held the positions on an interim basis since March 2005.

"In his short time here, it became clear that Dunlop has the experience, expertise and knowledge of our region's healthcare system necessary to guide Dimensions through a challenging period and to a bright future," said Calvin Brown, Chairman of the Dimensions Healthcare System Board of Directors. "We feel fortunate to have him aboard on a permanent basis."

Ecker came to Dimensions from Brim, a healthcare management company focused on meeting the needs of community hospitals. While with Brim, Ecker served as interim CEO of hospitals in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, New York and Wisconsin.

"I look forward to working collaboratively with everyone in Prince George's County to make Dimensions the strong, stable healthcare provider that area residents need and deserve," said Ecker. "We have made progress in the last few months and we will build on that progress.

"For example, so far this year Dimensions has a positive financial bottom line - but significant challenges remain," added Ecker. "As we have discussed with Prince George's County officials, there is much we agree on regarding the future of Dimensions. Continued turnaround support from Cambio is improving operations. But more needs to be done to identify a new, stable source of revenue and to explore potential linkages with an academic medical center. I look forward to continuing work on these fronts."

Prior to joining Brim, Ecker had a long and distinguished career as a senior executive for healthcare organizations in and around the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In D.C., he served as President of Greater Southeast Community Hospital from 1973 to 1982, Executive Vice President and President of Washington Hospital Center from 1982 to 1990, and as Chief Administrative Officer for Group Hospitalization and Medical Services, Inc (the Blue Cross and Blue Shield affiliate serving D.C.) from 1991 to 1993. From 1994 to 1999, Ecker was President and Chief Executive Officer of Loudoun Hospital Center in Leesburg, Virginia.

Dimensions Healthcare System was formed in 1982 and is an integrated, not-for-profit healthcare system serving residents of Prince George's County through four member institutions: Prince George's Hospital Center, Laurel Regional Hospital, Gladys Spellman Specialty Hospital and Nursing Center and the Bowie Health Campus. Dimensions is the largest provider of healthcare services in Prince George's County.
