Dimensions Healthcare System Fills Top Level PositionSeptember 22, 2005 Cheverly, MD G. T. Dunlop Ecker, President & CEO of Dimensions Healthcare System, announced today the addition of John A. O'Brien as the newest member of his management team. Mr. O'Brien has been appointed as the new President of Prince George's Hospital Center, as well as the Chief Operating Officer of Dimensions Health System. He has extensive experience with healthcare systems and medical management.
Mr. O'Brien has formerly been the chief operating officer at the 400 bed Harper Hospital in Detroit MI, and prior to that at Hamot Medical Center in Erie PA. At these organizations he had successfully included physicians in the management processes of the hospitals that led to significant quality and cost improvements. He had also been responsible for planning a major expansion of the Presbyterian-University Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh (PA). His experience with physician organizations has included creation of the first managed care plan at the University of Pittsburgh that coordinated the efforts of 700 faculty and community physicians.
Mr. O'Brien comes to Dimensions from HPAS, Inc., a physician practice management company he helped to start in Detroit. He supported the growth of what has become the largest hospitalist medical group in the Midwest, Michigan Hospitalists, PC, providing care in 28 hospitals throughout metropolitan Detroit. He also managed Health Centers Detroit, a network of primary care clinics that provide care to a medically underserved population in that City. He created contracts and funding opportunities that allowed these medical groups to become successful providing innovative care in urban and suburban markets. He is also a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Mr. Ecker joined Dimensions in March 2005 in an interim capacity. He was hired by the Board as the permanent President & CEO in May 2005. Other members of the management team include Douglas Shepherd, President of Laurel Regional Hospital and Stewart Seitz, President of the Bowie Health Center and Gladys Spellman Specialty Hospital & Nursing Center. Dimensions Healthcare System was formed in 1982 and is an integrated, not-for-profit healthcare system serving the residents of Prince George's County through four member institutions: Prince George's Hospital Center, Laurel Regional Hospital, the Bowie Health Center, and Gladys Spellman Specialty Hospital & Nursing Center. Dimensions is the largest provider of healthcare services in Prince George' County.
