Ruby O. Anderson RN, MSN, CNA-BC is named Chief Nursing Officer for Prince George's Hospital Center

Cheverly, MD – John A. O'Brien, President of Prince George's Hospital Center announced today the appointment of Ruby O. Anderson as the new Chief Nursing Officer. O'Brien stated, "Ms. Anderson has accepted the appointment as Chief Nursing Officer for Prince George's Hospital Center, effective immediately. She brings a wealth of experience to the role and we are pleased to have her as part of our management team."

Ms. Anderson first came to Prince George's Hospital Center in May 2001 as Director of Medical Nursing Services. Those responsibilities were later expanded to include Maternal and Child Health services. She became interim Chief Nursing Officer in 2005 and, most recently served as Associate Vice President of Patient Care for inpatient services. Prior to coming to Prince George's Hospital Center, Ms. Anderson worked at Washington Adventist Hospital in progressively more responsible nursing leadership positions.

In her new role, Ms. Anderson will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all nursing services at the hospital. Ms. Anderson noted, "I look forward to being part of this team and working with the nurses and other professionals in my new capacity. Together we will continue our service of excellence to members of the community we serve."

Ms. Anderson received a Masters of Science in nursing degree from Catholic University, Washington, D.C. in 1980. She belongs to the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Association of Military Surgeons Unites States and the Maryland Organization of Nursing Executives. Ms. Anderson is also a Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda.
