Services Provided

Emergency Services

The first time many of us experience a hospital is during a medical emergency, when it is important to have the best care possible in the critical minutes. Our Emergency Services Department is staffed by highly qualified board certified physicians, as well as dedicated, experienced Emergency nurses. Emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to meet your emergency and urgent-care needs.

To keep pace with growth and maintain high-quality, efficient care, in 2005 we upgraded and modernized the department, tripling its space. More than 30,000 patients were seen in the department last year alone.

Twenty-two separate treatment areas are used to treat both adults and children. These include:

  • an Acute Care section for patients with life-threatening problems
  • an Urgent Care section designed to treat patients with less severe conditions
  • several treatment rooms designed and equipped to serve women's healthcare needs
  • private treatment areas for children with comfortable surroundings to soothe our young patients as well as their parents

When medical emergencies arise that require the services of specialists, our on-call staff are available to meet specific needs.

These specialties may include:

  • Cardiologists
  • Orthopedists
  • Ophthalmologists
  • Obstetricians and Gynecologists
  • Pediatricians/Neonatologists
  • Plastic Surgeons
  • Neurologists
  • Psychiatrists and other Mental Health Professionals
  • Addiction Treatment Specialists

Our emergency department is part of a full-service hospital with back-up services readily available to diagnose or treat a patient.

The Laurel Regional Emergency Services Department is supported on site by:

  • Diagnostic medical imaging services (radiology) including MRI and CT scans
  • Nuclear medicine testing
  • Laboratory and blood bank
  • Cardiac testing including a cardiac catheterization lab and angiography testing
  • Critical care unit with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment
  • Operating rooms in service 24 hours a day
  • 24-hour neonatal, anesthesiology and Hospitalist coverage
  • 16 hour Intensivist coverage
  • Physical Rehab Center accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
