The Comfort of HomeFor your comfort and convenience we have created a family-centered atmosphere. Your labor-delivery-recovery room (LDR) will be one cozy private room, attractively decorated with comfortable furnishings. Our rooms are designed so your support person, as well as the baby's siblings, family and friends, may visit you and be involved in your delivery. An oversized rocker/recliner is provided for the support person as well as a free telephone in the birthing room so you may update family and friends on your progress. It is reassuring to know that while resting comfortably, we have a highly trained staff as well as the latest technology and equipment to help you and your baby.
Special Care NurseryOur special care nursery meets the needs of premature infants and newborns-at-risk. An experienced medical and nursing team, sophisticated monitors and advanced technology provided specialized, split-second response to infants in distress. At Laurel Regional Hospital, you get the best of both worlds-advanced technology and expert care, plus a warm, intimate environment in which to celebrate the birth of your baby. After you have your baby, you will be moved to one of our attractively furnished, private rooms where we encourage new mothers to spend as much time as they wish with their newborn infant. At Laurel Regional Hospital we strive to provide new parents with the most education on what it will be like during and after your pregnancy. At Prince George's Hospital Center's Maternal Child Health Unit you will also find all the comforts of home, a warm and friendly team of OB's, midwives and nurses and the only designated neonatal intensive care unit in Southern Maryland. Maternal Child Health Community Education ClassesPrepared Childbirth Course This class provides lectures, discussions, films, demonstrations and exercises to prepare couples for changes that occur during pregnancy as well as to teach methods to assist with the labor and birth process.
